Try some grunge brushes.

i think the brush looks pretty good actually.

If you want to make a basic metallic look, just use a gradiant, you could also use some brushes and set them to a low optacy to make them look a little more worn-out.

Gloss - well that's very easy. Just make a white shape, in the same place and shape you'd like the gloss, and set it to a low optacy, say 25%. Use a larger percentage for a bolder gloss

For the sig i am using i used the leaf brush in the basic set. The brushes in the basic set are good.

What do you meen by shiny black background? any examples?

You know like when you look at a car and in the light it looks smooth and shiny, we something like that.
