A question about Paypal

Does paypal take taxes or something? I was sent a dollar but I recieved less.

Started off with 1.25 $ and after the dollar I am left with only 1.93USD after payment. :/

I believe they deduct some percentage from any payment made to you.

You can check the transaction details, it will tell you everything you need to know 😉

They do not charge taxes, but they charge a PayPal fee for most transactions. To avoid this, send money as Personal --> Gift.

You should be able to sent "Gift" payments with a personal account although it may differ between countries though. I know some countries have different restrictions compared to others.

No. You shouldn't have to. You may need to verify your account though.

One exception is India.

Even when I send something as a gift I am charged a fee, It is about 2/3% I think.

I usually would go for "Gift" transfers. It doesn't deduct taxes and its automated. A gift is sent as the person is forced to accept because its a gift...😛

You shouldn't gift money to people unless you have received your product first or are certain you will receive 😉

I was not aware that they take taxes but I have not used them alot. I know that when you send a refund they take a holding fee from that money and that is the only thing that I think that they take from you.

Nope, I get charged for receiving money..

Like everybody else is saying...just tell people to send you the money as a gift. It is not taxable if it is sent as a gift.

Not all buyers will agree to send money as a gift, I for one generally don't. If you send the money as a gift you cannot file a dispute if the seller doesn't deliver, the buyer is sometimes charged PayPal fees for the transaction and it is against PayPal's terms so you are putting your account at least at a small level of risk.
