I came up with this for my Admin Vault forum but I no longer own it so I thought I would share the rules template with all of you in case you're stuck on coming up with rules.

Code:
We run a fairly relaxed forum but we do have these few rules governing this site.

You may not spam in any way this could be via advertising a link that adds no value to a topic or via private message, posting excessively the same message in order to get a higher post rank, posting warez or adult material on this board, You may also not post in text speak and if English is not your first language we ask that you at least try to be clear as to what you are posting. If you find it difficult we ask that you give Google Translator a try.

You may not impersonate any actor, character, director, or anyone else dead or alive. You may not impersonate any staff member, and you may not impersonate a moderator. This includes but is not limited to telling a member what to do - that is what the report feature is for. We deal with our members not you. This keeps everything going well for our forum.

We ban people for a number of reasons but mostly if we feel they are a disturbance to our community. Ban appeals may be made by contacting us via email. The link to our contact form is at the bottom of this community board. A ban will be made by a staff member in which they will ensure they have made the right judgement. You may not sign back up if you're a banned member, or try to bypass this ban in any way, unless advised to by an administrator.

If you are going to post spoilers we ask that you make a note of this in your post by either using the spoiler tags available, or making it clear to the user that it is a spoiler. If we find spoilers are being posted without giving the user a warning we will ban each rule breaker for any term up to one month. Additional rule breaks may cause the user at fault to be banned for longer, if not permanent.

I prefer rules to be lists myself. People are generally less likely to read paragraphs than they are lists with bolded items, kind of like the FP rules. Also, people will quite often scan the rules for the policy on a particular thing, like signatures.

It was for a rules page but yeah if on a topic it should be edited.

It's a simple rules template and people may edit it to their liking
