So here's the scenario.

You are a member of a forum you really like, and you're fairly active on it. The Admin then sells his/her site to another Admin and the forum you post on gets merged into the other database. Do you start posting on this new site, or quit?

Nope. Chances are, if I liked the old site, I was friends with the staff and liked the old community. I probably wouldn't get along with all the "new" old-timers that would come with the new merged forum.

It depends. I'd give it a shot, but if the main feel had changed I probably wouldn't stick around.

Depends.. is it a small site being merged into us or are we being merged into a larger site? If it doesn't feel like the same community I probably wouldn't be around for long, especially if others leave for the same reason.

I'd probably stick around for a bit to give the place a shot.

Though if I know the new admin/staff team and I know I don't like them (or haven't gotten along with them before) then I'm gone. (If I know who we're merging into and I know I dislike them? I might leave even before the merger.)

Though whether or not I liked this new forum, I'd be extremely hesitant about joining a forum from that first admin again because if they're going to sell their forum so quickly and easily that makes me think they didn't care much about the community or it's members and that they'd do this again.

You did say the database gets merged, right? So I'm assuming all my profile information carries over.

In which case, I don't care, it's the same to me.

If, however, they expect me to re-register ...

Really, you will give up that quickly without even giving it a chance?

I would stick around to see how it turns out, and if I don't like what happens I will leave. I have done that with a few of my favorite sites in the past, it's a shame really.

Indeed. Give it a chance.

Well if the people Ive developed relationships stick around and be active, then I probably will. If I feel lost in a crowd of new faces, I might move on.. But if those new faces happen to be cool people, I might stay around. Its all based on the circumstances, I can't just say "I will stay" or "I will go" if this happened.

I would definitely give it a chance first like one should do, hopefully the merge carries the staff over otherwise it isn't a full merge then. It would be more like one person selling it off and us all going over to that community but as regular members which might be an issue for those staff members but this could always be talked about while the sale of the forum is being taken care of so it swings either way really.

I'd give it a chance, and if I liked it I would stay, and if I didn't I would go. Hopefully I would like it, because members from the previous site would stay as well.

I think that I would also give the forum a chance. If I dont like how the forum is going from there, then I would go ahead and leave. Most of the time, I would stay mainly because I would miss the old members.

I'd probably give the site a chance. If I liked the old niche, and I like the sound of the new niche, I might hang around for a while and see how things shape up. If the site goes downhill for whatever reason, or it has staff who have no clue what they're doing, then I might not be around for very long.

I think it depends on how the merge goes. If the community I was on is evident on the forum it has been merged into, then I would probably stay. So, it kind of depends on what the other members do as well. I would probably give the forum a chance though. 🙂
