Site Name: A Writer's Recluse

Description: A well-established writing and art community seeking some new faces!
Your Name on the Board: Kaez

It is impossible to discourage the real writers - they don't give a damn what you say, they're going to write. - Sinclair Lewis

A Writer’s Recluse was created in July of 2008. Over three years of AWR History have since passed. When we started, George W. Bush was still President and no one knew who Nick Clegg was, let alone if we agreed with him or not. There was a lot less Twilight in the world and everyone was preparing their nuclear bunkers for the onset of World War III as nations fought to the death over imaginary money that no one actually owned.

Well, nearly everyone. Off in one small corner of the vast hive of scum and villainy that comprises the internet, there was a shining beacon of storytelling and creative output. A Writer’s Recluse has enjoyed three years of stories, poems, artworks and competitions. As of this December, we currently have over 350 registered members and an even more incredible 295,000 posts. But, like each and every individual member, we’re always looking to improve.

And that’s where you -- yes you, forum-reader -- come in. We’re looking for fresh blood (...preferably A or B type...) to come and join us over at A Writer’s Recluse. If you like writing, drawing, painting or even just reading, you might just be the ideal person to join us over at the Recluse. The site will offer you a chance to improve and grow at the creative arts you partake in, while enjoying a friendly, laid-back, if not slightly odd-ball community.

So what will you find at the Recluse? An awful lot.

Writing Galore – As you might guess from the name, first and foremost we are a writing forum. We have stories, poetry, roleplays, reviews, and discussion over the finer arts of literature and their creators. Feel free to join in on roleplaying threads as diverse as Warcraft and Skyrim to Genetically Modified World War II. Post a story and receive feedback on what you did well, and what you can improve on. Return the favour and offer your own opinions on other pieces of writing. Get involved in the very heart of the competition.

Drawing, Painting and Maps, oh my! – As well as having a community full of writers, we also have a great few members who are a dab hand at the visual creative arts as well. If you love to engage your artistic eye, look no further. Post your pictures, be overcome at some of our already established artists and calligraphers and soak up the Parisian-like café feel.

Blue Team! You will start on my first whistle! – At AWR we have a bit of a competitive streak, although let it never be forgotten, the foremost goal of all our competitions is self-improvement and fun. But boy, we enjoy a good competition, and frequently host monthly and weekly writing, art, and poetry competitions. There’s also an annual Writer’s Cup, an Arena Competition and if that’s not enough, there’s always the end of years A Writer’s Recluse Awards.

Random Banter – Lets face it, we can’t be working out our creative muscles all the time, or get worn out and will drop off. So come along to the Random Banter side of the forum to engage in some educated stupidity. Join our various political, religious and philosophical discussions. Come along and discuss your favourite games or bands. Or hop over to the Forum Games section and join us in a deadly game of Crywolf. We have it all.

And much, much more!

If you’re intrigued by such a marvellous place in the internet, come and give us a glance at:

If you like what you see, sign up and jump into the community. Introduce yourself in the introduction thread and start posting your stories, drawings and views. We’re happy to have you.

Hope to talk to many of you soon!
