Hello, I'm not sure if I'm in the correct area to post this. Sorry if it's not. Anyway here it goes. I just finished setting up my forum. So, I've been reading alot and it is good to make a start up post on my forum. Here's the question. Can I take some article that I found in the internet and post it in my forum with the source link added into the post? Or this will make my forum looks bad?
Although it would look better to make your own article, many people do put other's articles as a discussion or warning of something.
If you are posting the article as a discussion piece (something that the other users can discuss about) then it should be okay. Let me show you some examples of how I think it should be properly done so that it doesn't look bad or is considered copyright infringement.
This user posted an exert of an article to warn users about something happening to blogs. He put the exert in a quote and also included a link to the article. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=101343
This user posted an exert of an article and a link to the article and other users are discussing it. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=101283
These kinds of examples don't look bad for a forum. I would recommend putting a quote and an exert - not the entire article - so that your users can discuss it. 🙂
Have a great day and I hope this post helped you. Good luck with your forum!
