Alright..so I got a question about something.
I am not really..overweight in particular..as I do sports all-year round, which keeps me fit-ish and in shape. Currently I am doing track and I think that is not enough to keep skinny.

My metabolism is going away, so all that candy and junk food I ate over the years is affecting me. Starting to get a little belly (lol), which I do not want  . SO...

I was wondering if me just doing track (daily workouts and track meets; sprinter, so it's mostly sprints), and doing like 60-100 sit-ups AND like 1-2 min of planks (if you know what that is), will help me be skinny.

If so..what about ONLY the abs..not track?

Sorry if this confuses anyone lol

Doing track and general running will make you skinny and you will gain a six pack depending on how much you do. The amount of sit-ups your doing will definitely gain you a six pack after a while, depending on your current physic it may take some time.

If you interested in building abs doing bench presses is probably the best way. If you don't have a proper bench you could join a gym or just find a slim table, bench table, raised platform that you can comfortably lower your arms all the way back.

Hope that helps
Anything else you want to know post below

If you are currently getting a belly, work on getting that down before working on the abs. Working on the abs while you still have a belly, will build muscle under the fat; Making your belly Look bigger.

Know this because Im dieting and exercising myself.

That is actually excellent information. Thank you.

Just will have to run more after practice.

All the muscle in the world won't show if there's fat covering it. But they're right. Just build up the muscle as you go, if you get thin enough, your abs should show regardless actually.

Less going in than going out=weight loss.

Okay, I get asked this now and again and here's how it works..

You need to run, do your ab workouts and stuff. But still the thing you really have to think about is your diet, I have seen people go to the gym everyday and run and never get a 6 pack, and all because they have a bad diet!

Cheers!

60-100 situps a day aren't going to do much for you. I'd suggest 300 crunches and 200 blanks daily. Abs do have a lot to do with fat that may be hiding them, so general cardio like track should be benefitting you in that respect. You may also want to take up swimming.

60-100 situps adds up though. say you do 100 per day. 700 per week, 2800 per month, 33,600 per year. That adds up.

I do basketball, not swimming 🙂

You's are gonna need to explain what crunches and blanks are?
If you feel your getting a little biit bigger, go out jogging for a week for atleast 30 minutes - 1 hour and half, I preffered going out early in the morning, just do what your doing, you just need to see the after effects when they hit.

It's not necessarily about an exercise adding up over time. You need to do what's most effective for your body; everybody is different, of course. If the 100 sit ups works for you, keep doing it until you stop seeing results. If it doesn't, you need to start on a different program.

Your best bet isn't to do 100 sit ups a day, but every other day. For every day your body works out, you need a day of rest for your muscles to recover. This is just for core strength and having more defined muscles.

If the 100 sit ups isn't showing any results after about 4-6 weeks, try adding more into your routine. Hit every muscle by doing different abdominal work outs - change it up.

As for losing weight, run for at least 15 minutes before each work out. Sprints will not help. The longer you run, the more calories you will burn.

Diet is just as important as the exercise and you should aim to be having your 5 a day with plenty of water, if you stick to your recommended amount of daily calories for your age along with the exercise you should get there.

Working on your core stomach muscles will also help.

Try Laying flat on your belly, assume the press up position but instead of pushing up, rest on your elbows (hands on the floor facing upwards) for as long as you can stand it, this will strengthen your central core.
