Hiya i am try to find ways to make my forum more active. but cos guest can download with out joining i am find this rather hard. Does anyone have tips for this please or any other advertising tips. i already have it on google and most other search engines.

I guess make your forum look attractive by adding a new theme. It will attract more people. And all in all you need to have patients.

i have been having a fe problem with changing the theme and my other admin that usally halps me is busy at the mo. ther are a few other problems with that i am not sure about. i am using smf 2.0 rc2

i have been trying this. but with my site having a lot problems with it at the mo it dont seem to be working. plus i have done loads more advertising. i am getting a few guests on ther just not registering.

I don't know if this is possible but, if you can, make it so guests can only download a limited number of files or so they can only download files under a certain size. That way once they download all they can they'll be prompted to join so they can download more.

Or maybe create a separate forum where guests can download and then protect all the other downloads for only registered members.

If you want to attract more members then you could also create a blog and post a "download of the week" or something. Provide a little blog post with the download linking to the forum. Search engines love blogs so this ought to help bring in more traffic. Combine this with protected download links and more people will start signing up to download. :great:
