Right - I have only been able to run ONE Successful site, and I just can't remember how I started it! Currently everyone only seems to want to ever join a site with more than 2 members consistently posting, and as a result, I can't start up sites any more! No matter how much I post myself, no matter what updates I implement, no-one is interested due to the lack of people!

Advertising isn't fixing this, it seems almost everyone has this same mindset...

How can I possibly fix this?

Create multiple accounts on your forum, Do post exchanges 🙂 That will help

I'm not sure if this work, but I read it in many articles seems to work for several people.

I don't know man. What I did was I looked for friends who could help out, or people who were really interested in the topic of my forum. They became active posters. And it counts for the different secitons on your forum. I added a new rp section and I got like 5 new members with over 100 posts, and the sections post count is over 5000 now.

Hm. I'm asking people to post for some money on another site but they seem to have forgotten about the offer :/

I'll try the alt account method. Advertising is difficult if you can't find specific people for an RPG site.

I wrote an Ebook about this.

Invite your friends! They'll want to post just to hang out with you. Also make sure that whatever topic you picked, you are an expert in that topic. Then put up some articles about it on your board, people may start to come to your forum and see those articles, and realise hey, there's someone on this board who actually knows what he's talking about. I think I'll sign up here, this promises to show me something cool.

You can get members to post more often if you reply to what they say and ask questions about what they said. 😛

I'm having the same problem with getting my users to posts. I have managed to get a local store to donate a Sony Reader to my board. It's worth $180 USD. If they don't want to keep it, I'm sure they can sell it on eBay for at least $100. This is it from the SonyStyle USA store http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/st...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666257813

I made a billboard and put it on my home page and sent all my members a newsletter announcing the contest. The rules are in the Global Announcement sticky that can be seen on top of each forum. Posting has already picked up on my board but I plan to announce this to non-members to see if that helps even more.

I'm hoping this will encourage the visitors to register or login since I usually have between 500 to 750 visitors daily depending on the day. But usually about 30 to 50 members login daily depending on the day. I have about 1393 members but I could have had way more since I tend to occasionally purge members, especially the ones that registers but never login. Which is strange since I have e-mail activation; so they go as far as clicking the activation link but never signed in to the board. So I purge members that have not login within 60 days of activation!

Ooh, let me know the name, Acorn!

Theezy: that's what I'm doing but it's often the members that don't reply any more lol

Victory: that's actually a forum that sounds like it's doing well but what are the average number of posts per member? (Yes I also get strange register and die accounts!!)

These are my stats as of just a few minutes ago.

Huh, wow. I have 50,000 posts (almost) with just over 400 members (most inactive) on my most active site. For a site that gets a lot of members, that post count certainly is a bit low!

It seems hardly anyone sets up topics - set up a few more yourself and encourage the creation of more topics?

I am going to guess the successful site you are talking about is Naruto RPG.

If you are here some tips:

Google can you get lot of real active members if you rank high in target keywords. You should try get your site in the first page of the search result page for Naruto RPG and Naruto Forums.

Move out forumotion. If you are not good at the tech side of things then go with MyBB, it is very easy to use. There lot scripts out there that can convert forumotion to phpBB to MyBB and there lot of people willing to do it.

Be active member of Naruto forums that are not RPG and have link/banner to your site in your signature.

Yes, Kevin. Naruto RPG is already successful now and people post~ so it's fine for a long while to come. However, the one I am trying to set up to work is an Assassin's Creed RPG. It's been added to Google

I don't think Forumotion really affects the users who come to the site, especially if the features of FM are all you need really. It's user-friendly. It's IMO only a pain for admins who want to do fancy stuff.

Infernhawk: I'll set up an off topic section.

Well use the tips I said and apply to Assassin's Creed RPG. Get your site to be on the top 5 results of "Assassin's Creed RPG". I am telling to move out of forumotion because it is very easy to hack and member can do lot of damage. If you want a forum to be successful then you have to doing that may be pain to you.

Also, I would buy that eBook by Acorn since his forum is RPG forum and has over 4 million posts.

I would buy Acorn's Ebook but no-one's told me the name!

As for Forumotion hacking: never happened to me despite getting threats months ago on NRPG. Apparently most of the hacks come from password guesses anyway.
