Should ads blend in with content, or be separate and stand out a lot?

It really depends how much you need the money from the ads.

You can have them stand out which will draw the users attention to them more so you will get more clicks but it annoy the users more but if they blend in then they won't stand out so much and you will get less clicks but the users would like them better.

It's really up to you how you want it as if you want to put the users first or you need the money to keep your site up.

Well, no matter how you use them ads are always clicked. in survey about 87.78% of the daily internet users accidentally click an advertisement no matter how hidden it is.

Yeah but the more visible they are the more deliberate clicks you get.

Yup. But as I was stating a while ago. Better yet worry about the amount of members rather than the amount of clicks. More members, more clicks, more guests sometimes, more clicks.

Yea. Its not always a good idea to make them stand out. Sometimes contrast colors don't look too good or too professional. Also, if they are google ads, I think you also get money based on impressions so you don't have to have them stand out too much because you'll still get money for showing the ads, just not as much...
