When browsing around the internet, do you use an adblocker? I have one browser with one installed and another without so I use each browser differently depending on if I want to support a site (Like FP) by seeing ads or not.

I have an adblocker on every device I own where adblocking is possible; desktop, laptop, set top box, smartphone. I'll whitelist sites or channels in relation to things like youtube, but it stays on for most of my internet usage. Too much malware ad hijacking and people tracking going on for me to leave it off for the majority of the time. Plus, there's still those nuisance ads that play audio or take over your entire screen, plus the popups.

My next goal is to build a raspberry pi or another similar device so I can have network level adblocking without installing anything on my devices. That way, anyone who uses my wifi or any device where I can't normally install adblock--like say, a smart tv or game console--benefits as well.

Yes, but some forums remember benefit from displaying ads financially which helps them stay alive

I don't have adblocker. I don't mine seeing the ads since it can be very helpful. Even looking at sexy girls ads. What I don't like as an website owner that how can I make some income if my members or traffic got adblocker 🙁 I do have an plugin that allows the users to get stopped and have to disable it before they enter the website.

I decided to not go ahead since that user may also leave the site

I know, which is why I'll whitelist or only block certain ads on sites. The ones that get blocked the least are the ones that integrate the ads into the sites themselves versus being a square on the top of the page since those are less intrusive and don't carry malware as often. I was just using the youtube thing as an example, not me suggesting that only youtube goes unblocked.

Those anti-adblockers are also extremely easy to get around.

I have a adblocker, but I don't use it unless I absolutely have to (like going on a website that has WAY TOO MUCH ads on it).

I use it on all websites. If someone wants money do it without advertising or I don't feel sorry for you.

I have a adblocker, but i don't put it on FP😀

If you can't afford to operate without excessive advertising, you need a new business strategy. I'm using an adblocker on every site including FP. If you'd like money perhaps charge a membership fee?

I have an Adblocker. I use it on every site, including FP. I know it takes revenue away from some sites.

@Deatives there is the forum sponsors, which you have to pay here.

I am not sure if I have a adblocker. I havent installed one myself, but xF seems to detect one when I browse FP (Though I still get to see all the ads 😛)

I might start using adblocker to try and make an system that will stop people using it on my site 😛 How can I earn any income if people are damn careless on having adblocker on there browser

well, maybe I have to let it be and loss income

There are other ways to make money some include:
  • Upgrades
  • A "market" you could sell various things (both digital and virtual or even services)
  • Donations
The ideas are limitless. Advertising isn't the only way to make money.
