So what do you think of administrators who are addicted to their forum activity levels?
I myself don't bother with activity levels until no one joins for a week then I get concerned and ask a few members what would bribe them into legally joining my forum.
I think that those admin's, who are over the top with activity levels, just want to succeed and they want their forums to be the best, but I think running a forum should be enjoyable not unless your Fowler, we give him hell 😛 .
I am not addicted to my forum activity levels, but I would like some of the people who join my forum to make a few posts a week. I don't like members who join and not post 🙁
Snobo you pay to much attention to us. Snobo's story of his life.
I recieve one hug everyday, two possibly.
Also I recently met up with this kid who's dad was big in the internet marketing kind of things and the kid was just kind of playing around with the browsers typing in random stuff, about 2 hours later he got the hang of foruming, he focuses it around some weird internet game or something, he advertised once on another small board and he checked back later on and only to see him as the only member he went mental. He was like 'WHY HAVE I GOT NO POSTS, TOPICS OR MEMBERS', I was like ''facepalm''. He pretty much got his dad to pay people to register and post until the kid was happy, that was a day at the office downered.
Wow, someone obviously doesn't realize that forums don't grow overnight. I used to be obsessive of my stats as well, I guess I could say that I still am, but I don't go on about it as much as I used to. As long as people are enjoying the community, that's all that matters.
I don't really think being addicted to high activity levels is bad. I mean, the more active my forum is, the more fun it is because it has more members interacting and posting. Who wouldn't want that?
I love small communities, I made 150 posts on a forum with 5 members and 10 posts before. It was a general forum, I did that all in one day, and I wasn't admin.
I think it's okay as long as it doesn't really stress you out. Some people like the whole stats thing and seeing them grow. As long as they don't tear themselves to pieces on a slow day I'd say that's fine, however they enjoy it doesn't matter as long as they do.
all forums fluctuate and there will be fast and slow days no matter what board it is.
I will admit that I enjoy watching numbers rise. I have an obsession with statistics and rankings. I have that obsession to thank for being able to be so successful in my real-life job.
