Adding a Current Events area?

While replying to another post on another forum, I indicated that it seems that most forums (in my observation) are doing well IF they happen to have a current events area. For news either generally or within the niche. I'm thinking about adding such a section to my own forum, but I have two potential issues:
1. Will I have enough energy to search out news worthy to add to my forum?
2. Would a current events area invite toxic discussion? My site is a role playing site, and I'm hoping to escape reality.

So as you can see, I have mixed feelings about this. Having a Current Events area would always give members a place to discuss their opinions about real world events that affects all of us, but, am I able to make the commitment to do it correctly?

What type of events do you mean? Like music festivals/events, or something else?

How about an RSS feed?

Like Current News, like nationwide stuff. Important world events.
But since my forum is anime and role playing centric, probably that as well.

RSS Feeds can pull articles from news sources so you don't have to post them yourself. I could see current news based around anime or tabletop games being perfect for your forum, but for current events I'm not sure if it fits the niche of your forum well. Though if you want to give it a go to test the waters then go for it!
