How do you feel about adding copywrite to your forum?

Copywrite, often just called Copy is basically modified terms and content that is meant to get the viewer to perform an action or catch their attention.

A lot of copy techniques are used in sales.

But I feel the art of copy can easily be integrated into community management.

As forum owners, we want new members, right? Especially in an age where forums are not as popular as they used to be.

So, it may be a problem with our welcome message for guests. We may need to add more copy to the message.

How can we catch their attention and make them want to join through the choice of wording and marketing copy?

How does everyone feel about this idea?

I think adding a copyright to some forums is beneficial, you don't want others to steal your content. If it's a community based around a intellectual property, you wouldn't be able to of course.

as soon as you put something up there it's copyright right away

So I'm talking about copywriting NOT copyright.

Copywriting is creating content that helps to result in CTA success. CTA-Call to Action.

It is when you put sales language on websites, newsletters, stores, products

A forum is a product, so copywriting on a forum could be a useful way to convince people to join.

A forum is a product, so copywriting on a forum could be a useful way to convince people to join.

A forum like FP could also be a service so copy can help encourage those seeking our services.

I like the About Us for FP which says:
Since 2007, Forum Promotion has specialized in providing advertising solutions to webmasters looking to promote their communities. We pride ourselves in being the bridge that connects forum administrators, bloggers, and more.

I used to work in Advertising and Marketing in Chicago back in the late 80s early 90s and the copywriters were stuck in a hole in the wall and never made much money. Their job was integral for the work we all had to do so it stunned me at how little they got paid.

Anyway, anything they wrote was considered copy...the Headline the Subhead, the body.

When we talk about forums and welcome messages, I don't have one on Crafter Craze or Christianity Haven. Knowing my members on CH, they won't read it anyway. They might read a sentence, but not an entire page. I guess what I'm saying that if you want to sell your site, it has to be done within the first minute or so of someone jumping on and looking. What do they see? What do they read? If they don't see within a few seconds what your forum is supposed to be about, they might not linger to find out for themselves.

With Christianity Haven, we don't have a blurb near our logo at the top. The reason? Because there is a cross in the logo with the word Christianity. That should speak for itself. Another thing we rely on is good content and hopping discussions! Right now we're having a good wave of newbies come in and voice their opinions and it's really keeping active conversations going on the site.

For Crafter Craze, the people who visit that forum aren't forum people. A lot of Christians that go to Christianity Haven already have experience with multiple Christian sites, so I don't have to teach them anything. For Crafter Craze it's a different experience. They're are a lot of people of many different age groups doing crafts and when you think about the little old ladies, they have no idea how to work a forum. That's part of my struggle in getting them to sign up. But I do have a blurb at the top that says:
Full service craft forum where you can request help, showcase your project, promote your site, blog or shop and connect with other craft addicts.

If you are running an ad for your forum which is also a really good way to create more awareness for your forum and attract new audience Always endeavor to use a good click bait which would capture the attention of prospective members and get them in a state of curiosity.

In other words people are attracted to your forum through the click bait which would get them to visit the forum to see what it's like.

A good number of them might be really interested and sign in on your forum and start contributing actively.

I fully support using proper SEO and high quality content to support a forum's exposure within search engines. It makes sense because good SEO usually means a good experience for visitors. You should always aim to write threads that could be blog articles. If you treat your content like this then your members will benefit and your rankings will improve.

I have never considered that but I give emphasis on building useful and interesting content. When your forum topics are good, you will get visitors and even members.
