Adding people on instant messagers?

Do you add just anyone, or only certain people?

I usually add everyone. :rofl: Which explains my MSN full of over 300 contacts. :rofl: :rofl:

I've always added certain people on MSN/Live Messenger, where I can talk to them most of the time. I have never added people that I barely know.

I would like to add everyone, but I'm always scared that they'll hate me. Therefore, I usually don't.

What gets me is I have a conversation with someone and next time they sign in they change their name - I hate that so much, makes it too confusing ..... you know I am pretty busy and I have to look back through the last convo to see who on earth they are :shrug:

You know you can nickname them so their name stays the same to you.

Like for you, I nicknamed you Birdy, then once I found out your first name, I just put your name in front of Birdy. So if you were to change your name to something else, it wouldn't show for me.

I only accept invitations from people that i gave permision to add me.

I only add people i know...if they add me and i don't recoginise i still accept to find out who they are.

I have way too many contacts (over 600)... but to be fair, most added me. Sometimes, in the evening, I end up with 70 online at a time.

I try to steer clear of adding anyone to my msn, there's some people who are just annoying, try to advertising, try to get information out of you, and worse of all add you just for something that doesn't involve them, frankly I hate people who try to stick in when it's absoloutely none of their business, hence why I gave up on adding people to my msn.
