Adding testimonials to your forum

Have you considered adding member testimonials to a slider on your forum header? It would be viewable only to guests, when not signed in. The testimonials could be from members about their experiences on the forum and might provide potential members with insight as to their true feelings.

Or, include a link in your header to a thread where members give testimonials and talk about why they like being part of the forum.

This purely depends on the forum niche. A sports forum doesnt need that in my opinion while for a hosting forum its almost a must.

I'd say testimonials would work better if you are offering an actual product on the forum. Else, I'd use an alternative instead like "Quotes of the day" or "Recent Forum Feed" to grab the attention of a potential guest. Leave them wanting for more.
