Tell your friends, family, etc and get them to check out your site. That is basically easy traffic in my opinion and is highly recommended for any site. If anyone you know is not interested in your site, ask them if they know anyone who would benefit from it.

-If you post enough, you'll have enough points to request a service and get more traffic
-Advertise your site by using your signature. Simple as that. Post your sites name and description and the more you post, the more likely someone will see your signature
-Always follow the rules or else you'll be kicked and your site will possibly be removed.
-Take advantage of ANYTHING they do. Whether it's contests, free services, etc, they will do it eventually. So the best thing you can do is take advantage of it.
-Post updates about your site. It basically bumps your site to the top and members get to see new info you posted

It most likely occurs when one person adds someone else's links and affiliates to their sites, and in exchange, the other person will do the same. More traffic for both people.

SEO configuration is another great way to get listed on search engines. It mainly comes with typing codes, however, you could do something as simple as writing a description of your site in your tags. An easy way to configure your SEO is with google webmaster tools and google analytics.

Add a "follow us" on twitter or facebook. That's a great way for everyone to see it. Ask your members to click on it if they feel they like this site a lot. It'll increase the value on twitter or facebook, which is always good for traffic.

You only really need Google, as it covers 72% of the global search market share, then maybe Yahoo to stay safe. The other examples are almost pointless. However, these aren't going to get your more traffic. You're going to be on the 500th page, so who would search there?

This has been a successful approach for Google, although it a diminishing field, though may still work.

When you talk about certainty of a site getting more traffic, then this isn't a great method. It's decent, but in terms of assurance, then no, you won't necessarily get traffic from this method.

This tip is not true. The topic you made is about getting more traffic. I have a site that has no traffic, so maybe the second and third tip can help, but this won't. If I have a banner exchange with another new site, and we both need traffic, how is relying on a low traffic site going to help you anymore than it helping them? It contradicts itself. You merely assume both sites have a lot of traffic, in order to gain more traffic, but this won't be the case in most cases. There won't be "more traffic for both people", and is also a "lose-lose" situation.

These won't get you traffic if you don't have any, or is too small to be recognized. How is SEO going to get me traffic? It can help in rankings, but that won't necessarily get me traffic. SEO merely helps you're rankings, but in order to rank, you need links, but if you have plenty of links to rank #1, how come you don't have traffic?

Again, this one doesn't seem to logically work. You assume you already have a decent amount of members or traffic. I don't see how adding a "follow us" button is going to get you traffic. To put this into perspective, I have a new forum and a new Twitter account. I add a Twitter button to my site, and say a few members join and follow me. The only followers I have are already members on my site. How can that get me more traffic? You need to advertise that account link as well as your forum's link in order to see some result, say on forums.

I have to agree with what David has said, a lot of this relies on traffic, and lots of it, without traffic you soon slip down the pages in googles organic searches.

According to dnscoop.com my site gets little or no traffic, we are barely six month old, affiliates and linking has brought us very little if not traffic, the one site we want to link with which would bring us traffic absolutely refuses to swap links, after all they are No1 they don't need traffic.

The main key is perseverance, and advertising, you need to get your name out into the public domain, relying on the net and other sites to do that for will result in failure.
