Many of us have extensive backgrounds in forum ownership and admin positions. I'm just wondering if it's possible to have a career or regular job as a forum admin for a very large forum? This would include either a monthly salary or percentage of forum income and involve regular job duties. This could be different than what is typically expected where an admin works for free. Have you ever seen this type of job position available? Or, would you consider a paid admin for your forum? And, if so, what payment or salary?

I'm leaning towards a "no" because to make a position in an online forum as a regular job, the payment must be so big, no? If the owner of the forum can manage that much, then it's cool indeed, but that sounds close to impossible. Since most webmasters are building communities either for fun or to make some income for themselves, barely enough to support the forum itself.

If we can live with our job as a staff member or an administrator, that will be very cool, though! XD

I know a few people that are 'contract community managers' for a big boards on the internet. I think a forum has to really be making some serious revenue for actually hiring paid staff.

Forum networks like Crowd Gather and Internet Brands would probably have easier chances of turning forum staff positions into actual careers...and then of course some of the paid forum software providers out there as well.

It's possible, but rare. Heck, it's probably just about impossible to get a job in this field outside the US.
