I am excited to announce that Admin-Junkies will now be the new home for SpeakUpFreely and AmericanSportsForum. Now, you can continue all sports discussion, general discussion, and forum admin discussions in one place.
I have been running SpeakUpFreely and AmericanSportsForum for over a year but I have been a member of Admin Junkies for more than three years. In fact, I am one among one of the earliest members of Admin Junkies.

Admin-Junkies is growing tremendously, come join us https://admin-junkies.com

It seems like that forum just buys up (and merges) any forum just for the sake of it? What has sports got to do with an admin forum?

Some admins think that's how you 'grow' your forum. It's a bit of a misconception and very false economy ("look, we 'grew' by 30,000 posts just now! Most of it is irrelevant and dead content, but look at our metrics!!'). But I suppose in this instance it's a way to shed a troublesome community that needed to just be shut down and thrown away (SWC) into a mishmash of content that used to be focused and is now mostly nonsense. So...yeah...kind of works, I guess 🤷‍♀️

I wondered why my avatar changed over on Admin Junkies and I must have been a member on one of these forums at some point. :V It's interesting, I think it's weird to incorporate three forums into one when they are all different niches. I know I merged a few forums together to create Thee Zone but they all were very similar niched forums. Still either way, congrats to AJ I suppose lol.

Just like on FP and other webmaster forums, they also have general discussion section and sports section.

That's not entirely true. After the scandal, I rebranded and removed all nonsense content. The forum was very active, it got decent number of daily posts, decent traffic. I was even making some money from ads. I did not sell because it was better than shutting down. I sold it because I am planning new projects which needed funds.

Admin Junkies has acquired a lot of forums, and now I have multiple accounts there. 😀
Most admin forums have general discussion sections. As long as you have general discussion section, I think you can acquire forums on any niche.

That's all good. I meant no I'll feelings towards AJ. I do enjoy that forum and it's another place for me to get content for my forum 🙂

Ok, so tough love time -- The initial solution to that particular scandal should have been shut it down and throw it away, not rebrand and stave off part of the content before trying to turn the rest of it into something else. The site itself was the issue. SWC, no matter how you rebrand it, WAS the problem. What was done with it, to it, and with the PII of its' members without their consent by the owners of the time meant that site, in good conscience, never should have carried on. So the fact it did and you wound up making money off of it and then sold it on...kind of horrible, honestly.

I respect your opinion but the site itself wasn't the issue, the issue was how one of the owners handled it. I tried to shake off bad rap and I think I managed to pull it well. The forum was doing well, I could have continued running it, however, I had debt to settle due to mismanagement when I had a partner. I did not scam anyone, therefore there is nothing horrible about selling the forum.

The site itself WAS the issue. The second people's personal information came into play that site needed to be shut down and deleted. I say this with all due respect, but the fact that you carried on running it, profited from it, and the sold it because you needed money is morally wrong. That site should have been completely dismantled the second the scandal was discovered and outed. If you wanted to carry it on in spirit, you start a phoenix forum, a second generation. Not the same forum.

Perhaps @JoelR could shine some light on that. This is a practice I've not seen to this degree. I can see that he has now acquired @suprastan's Discussion Hub as well.

I agree with you 100%.
