I was reading some mybb security tutorials when I came across an interesting idea. Basically as well as a password admins must enter a pin like a second password to add a extra layer of security so say someone's hacked your co-admin. They try to go into the acp when they find they need a PIN to get in which they'd have to crack. So it gives time for an admin to stop the hacker. I will certainly will be using this on my new forum. I've never bothered much with improving security but after all these forums been hacked I feel I really need to touch up my security. I will post some more ways of securing yourself probably but what do you think of this idea?

Also, if your using mybb then take a look here as you'll find a tutorial on how to add it: http://www.mybbsecurity.net/topic-add-s ... -acp-login

Have seen this topic when Paul initially posted this in MyBB community. Its a great tutorial indeed. 🙂

Awesome tutorial there, I hope the maker or someone else makes it into a plugin for those who are not to good with php or just to scared.

This was originally posted on the official MyBB forums which, like kavin, I first seen it.

Definitely a great tutorial and something you should do if you want more security.

I have these built into projects I make 🙂 my social network has pins and so will my other project.

I use that feature on my IPB forum with an addon. It is a good idea.

This actually sounds like a good security option, except that it makes me have to load more pages to enter ACP, and that can make me upset sometimes especially when I need to do things fast. XD For websites with multiple administrators, this can be a good option as an additional security.
