Yeah, that's a major flaw that the phpBB group have made in phpBBv2, that they don't have a feature to protect the main admin/founder/owner from other admins, but that's why they implemented the Founder status feature for phpBBv3 to protect the main admin/founder/owner of the forum.
My suggestion is to get a back up and move to phpBBv3. -😉-
I wouldn't say it was a flaw in phpBB2... Bare in mind phpBB2 was built alot of years ago when the internet was safer and less people were out to ruin forums and that is why security wasn't as good as it wasn't as big of a problem... Times change and they weren't to know that people would suddenly start trying to ruin peoples work on a massive scale. Same as they didn't expect phpBB2 to be out this long because they didn't expect to have to completely rewrite everything to make phpBB3. It is no a flaw... Just at the time it wasn't needed as bad.
Ok can some one please help me to back evrything up and move it all to phpbbv3 please will I have to re do all my forum again as i am still in the process of doing it at the minute and its almost complete and rwady to open to its members.
As your with a free host you will probably need to pay for a backup and then transfer it to a webhost (free or paid) and then install phpBB2 and restore the back then upgrade to phpBB3.
It is easier then it sounds trust me but it could be expensive depending on who much forumotion charge for a backup and if you go with a paid host or not. I would say a paid host is better as they are quite cheap and are also normally faster and less problems compared to a free web host.
Hi all I was able to move everything from phpbb2 to phpbb3 so now done that and it didnt cost me a penny either can someone now help me to secure the main admin as I am setting another admin up for myself and want the preset admin to be protected incase I Try and delete it by mistake if that makes sense.
