AdminCentral - IP.Board to XenForo?

Do have an XenForo license? If you don't already their is no need spend that amount of money on it. Put the money towards something else for Admins Central.

He says he has a licence in the thread he linked to 😉

Yes, as mentioned in the thread and by the above poster I have an XenForo license on another forum that is no longer active.

Well, considering the fact that many admin/webmaster forums move to Xenforo these days, i guess you should stay with IPB. That would make it somewhat different from others. 😛

Not if it was my forum.
Care to elaborate?

I get you on that Kavin but it also seems these days people are enjoying being apart of XenForo communities far more than IP.Board and from discussions with other IP.Board fans they have noticed the same.

I don't know why everyone is moving to xenForo from IPB. IPB has a content system, gallery system, blogging system which are built in, not plugins. Use them to your advantage in an effort to gain members, differentiate yourself from the competition.

If that's the case, why not use bespoke?

Because differentiating yourself isn't a quantative measure, you either differentiate yourself or you don't.

I wouldn't use Xenforo because I don't like it. and I think it's just a fab that people are clinging to. And as stated before, IPB is disappearing, KEEP IT ALIVE!

My opinion to the matter is not to move as your forum seems perfectly fine on IPB, and to go through getting a new theme and all your plugins you will need isn't needed. If you do decide to move, I would hold off till XenForo 1.1 gold release where the rumored updated converters will be out.

It will be pretty difficult to wipe IPB off the list of forum softwares. They still have quite a following, dispite XenForos popularity.

I wouldn't say built in with the price you much pay for each but either way. Using IP.Board does not make you different. Software does not determine how unique a forum is.
That all comes down to the content you're providing.

Software doesn't determine how unique your forum is UNLESS all the competitors are using a specific one for example.

I think people get disappointed by their forum's activity and they think if they switch to the next popular software, they will gain activity. It doesn't work that way usually. Sometimes it has a negative effect, some members will feel alienated and wont like the changes.

If you were going to switch, it should be because you think a different software will benefit you as an admin (make forum maintenance and your "job" easier, etc).

If you read through everything I mentioned in regards to that, probably not just in this thread I mentioned it was not just about people liking the new software. I am not an idiot, I know a software isn't the key to gaining members.

Yes, I do feel lately people are enjoying XenForo forums more than IP.Board but to me, if the ended up working like that it's a nice bonus for me. But on the other side of things, I love XenForo, I think it is a great piece of software and have liked it so much even since I first saw and the reason I said "I just went with it and did it" is because I realized it the THE software I want to work with for the long run.
