Go get it now

Now that's something: migrating to myBB from Xenforo. For me it would be the other way around, loved mybb and used it for years, but it still doesn't work and offer what I expect from VB or, now, XF. Pretty ballsy move, hope you won't regret it in the future (I have recently migrated a 60k posts forum that worked for 5 years on mybb to VB and I regret not doing this sooner).

Best of luck with the site, keep us posted on its progress.

NO Offense but their is nothing perfect in the world. I just did what i feel right. If you have used xenforo then you would have known it lacks many basic features that are needed in daily operations of an admin. A move to Vb can be a wise decision but using xenforo was not a good decision for me atleast.

Dev, if you'd bother look at my signature link you'd know THAT I AM USING XENFORO right now and have some some more theme customiazation that many other users 🙂

And I have used myBB for 5 years, VB for 5 years, phpBB when some of our members here didn't even knew what a forum looked like.

MyBB was a decent solution for a while, until I had to curb the spam (since it's a Romanian forum, it's less 'hit' by spammers) and install a questions/answer type of captcha (which myBB didn't quite allow 1 year ago, when I installed it). The plugin messed up my registration page, making the register button hidden for most my visitors.

I had many database errors caused by the forum getting bigger, had to delete 6k inactive accounts so that I still have a forum.

Have switched to VB 4 months ago, when we had around 60k posts. I'm very pleased with this, it looks like it can handle my load better. My members were also thrilled.

I do consider MyBB to be the best free script (after testing - this means running/ designing themes for - phpBB, myBB, SMF and vanilla), but, if I can afford a license for VB or XF, I wouldn't even bother.

XF does lack some features, but I have found it to be very good still. My latest forum is running on XF and I am very pleased with it. Even more than with VB and I do have like 5 licenses for that and one for IPB.

That's why I considered your move to be pretty interesting. I would have exchanged the license for a Vb for instance but not use MYBB on an admin forum. Of course, it's your choice ...

Bro as i said before No Offense but everyone has its own likings and taste. You liked Xenforo better then Mybb doesn`t mean that i should also like it the way you like. I didn`t have checked your site prior to your this post so i didn`t knew if you are using it or not.

You liked VB better then Mybb and then XF better then VB so you moved on to them. But I still like the Free Software Mybb. Not because its free because i knew and understand its code better then XF. On top of that I was having some problems that maybe you didn`t have like. You can`t move multiple users from one usergroup to another at once. I keep on getting new databases for my forum and merge then to my existing forum but when you do this all the users got into 1 usergroup when you delete the imported usergroups. Last time i did this i had to move 80 banned users again to banned group one by one.

Anyways, I think we should stop this discussion as this is not necessary that 2 people always have common interests and likings. You have your own and i have My own.

Please don`t take this personally i just wanted to clear out my reason for the move. 🙂

NO HARSH FEELINGS 😉

Just wanted to clear the "If you have used xenforo then you would have known it lacks many basic features" part of your first comment, especially since you mentioned you actually didn't know that I use or that I can actually work with it 🙂

I agree that we all have our own ideas, that's true. I wish you all the best with the forums, in the end any good forum is something we should be happy about: more good content and education for admins.

As you said, Good content and active members are the key to success for a forum. It doesn`t mater on what forum script it is running on.

Good Look to You too :great: !!!

From what I hear on other admin forums, Mybb isn't good for a large forum. Mostly just small and medium ones. I too wouldn't have moved from Xenforo to Mybb...it would have been the other way around also like dojo. I haven't used VB or Xenforo and would still prefer them to any free software out there. Personal opinions.

Other than that good luck with your forum! BTW I completed your Free Freshman Package from Forum Penthouse. To anyone reading this, one spot left for a free posting package 😀

Is the Xenforo license you are giving away used on the old Adminforum or is it a new one?

Well i think i have to tell the truth to clear everyone's doubts

Maybe some of you know this, a couple of months ago AdminForum.org was in the hands of its previous owner and he had copied a lot of structure of AdminForums.org which ruined AdminForum.org`s image and almost every 2nd user of AdminForums and many users of Forum Promotion had a bad image in their mind about AdminForum.

When i bought this site from him i was also shocked to see they were actually very much similar.
Both have same niche, same script(Xenforo) and a little same structure

Then i tried to get everything changed and changed the whole structure, some posts and some other things too. But it was not enough so finally i dicided to change the script so that it can be a completely different site.

I have thought about moving to vB but currently i am in short of money so i moved to mybb.

To answer your other question, mybb is a very good and advanced script many big sites are using it without any problems. So their shouldn`t be any problem with handling large amount of members or a big database.

I may rethink about changing it to XF or Vb someday but not before a year.
