As an Administrator of your board, how involved do you like to get with your members?

I know some who like to post as a regular member, others like to sit back and watch proceedings whilst getting involved whenever neccesary (eg: An argument).

Personally, I like to get involved as possible...chatting with members, answering questions, giving feedback and support as much as possible. Much like a normal member, only with the rank and extra permissions.

What's your preference?

I post like a regular member because I enjoy most of the things my site is about.

I don't even act like an admin, on my forum. I try my best to be as inviolved, and be one on one with each member who joins. Sometinmes i can't keep up as much, lately, cause it's gotten so busy. I make it a priority to be as involved as possible.

I really can't stand forums i join, and get welcome by regular members, and hardly see any staff member taking the time to t least welcome me in my intro topic at their forum. Those forums usually don't get much of my time.

trust me hcf, you're a great admin 🙂

i get as involved as possible, though, that's hard because i have like... 8 active members, i have started most of the posts on my forum, and my problem is i take more time on the fun topics than the important topics, then i forget to do them all together :/

I try to get involved, but if I'm doing something, or working on another site it may get harder to do so, and I am "forced" to read reports and PMs, and important posts.

I don't act much like an admin on my site unless it relates to competitions etc. I just post regularly like most others.

I like to act as a normal member, ensuring most threads have replied from myself and no one feels left out.

I act like a regular member on my forums. Sometimes I get caught up in interacting with the community and put off updates and things like that, but I get to it eventually.. Or I just ask one of my sidekicks to do it.

I've always been highly involved in my forums, being a normal members. When GWN launches though, i'm going to take a different approach. I'm going to stay out of it for the most part. I feel that the staff backbone should only be there as a guideline, and the community staff should be elected by the members (within reason). This allows the site to have the feeling that the members are in control, yet it's still kept in order by 'hidden' GWN staff and admins. If the CM's think a suggestion is extremely good or something, we will have weekly meetings to review the performance of everyone and they can voice it during that.

A community driven experience guided by the admins, in the perfect combination.

My forums is still pretty new, so I'm very active and create lots of the threads on the forum.

I like getting involved..but sometimes if I get too involved my members won't feel the need to post anything. =/

I prefer that administrators keep a professional distance. On Simvision, we're well known for our top quality web design, uniquely developed features and software, et cetera, so the administration is often concerned with development, as opposed to the community. As a result, we are extremely picky when selecting our moderators, and we depend of on them to essentially administer the community.

I do the same as you do. 😉

I always try to get involved as much as possible... Some people do get put off when the admin never posts. It sends out an image of the admin being quite rude and not very friendly as they don't want to get involved in discussions and even welcome their new members.
