I am getting into flash now, I have one question.

How do I save them as .swf so I can use it as my forums banner?

I wan't to do what Cloverfield did on FFF.

You need to click: File -> Export -> Export Movie...

.swf should be the standard movie format in the combo box at the bottom of the save screen. The techniques used in FFF's banner are:

Motion Tween -> http://www.entheosweb.com/Flash/motion_tween.asp
Layer Masking -> http://www.entheosweb.com/Flash/masking.asp
Alpha Fade -> http://www.entheosweb.com/Flash/fade_in.asp
