When you have your own hosting and have the option to use ads, which do you prefer to use?

You can give a specific answer (like google ads) or be more general (ex: in-text ads)

Right now I have both set up on my forum if you want to see examples.

The blue underlined words are the text ads and I have adbrite banner ads at the top of the forum.

I much prefer ads like google ads. I can't stand the in text ones.

I have personal ads on mine, ones which real people have asked to be added. Plus one from accepted.co.uk which brings me in £15 a month.

I prefer google ads, at the bottom of the page and they have to blend with the background. Will never use In-line text ads, if I ever need extra money to help pay for my hosting I'd put google ads on the bottom of the page 🙂

I signed up but they didn't accept my application -🙁-

I read somewhere that they only accept people from the US at the moment. I don't know if that is true or not.

I didn't get accepted for the yahoo ads either. I believe it's contextual advertising on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis. So I use Adbrite instead.

Adbrite is good. Because my site is small I've only made $1.04, but your earnings are based on impressions, or clicks. They offer other services as well.

Don't you have to wait until you earn $100 to get paid with adbrite or something like that? There was some reason why i didn't use adbrite but i can't remember why.

With adbrite you can set the minimum payout as low as $5 from your settings, adsense minimum is $100

I prefer things like Google, Bidvertiser, etc.
In text ads like Kontera are very annoying, but not as bad as popups.
I get so many spyware cookies from popup ads, it's crazy. ~neutral~

Anyone know of Clicksor? How are they? I recently applied for them and added their "ad code" to my forums top banner.
