My first thoughts are it doesn’t really tell me what the forum is about without me looking through it. It should be known immediately, I advise a slogan under your logo to let the guest know, some people don’t twig on just by looking at the URL.
I do like the theme, it gives me a “city’” kind of vibe, I like it.
I appreciate that it’s not cluttered and I can find my way around easy, registration link is clear to find.
I wonder if a gallery would help your forum where your members can post pictures of their travels and potentially blog about it, just a thought but I’d understand you don’t want to move away from the focus of forums, a gallery might be a good option still though.
Improvements? Work on the theme a little bit on certain areas. The logo doesn’t really match your niche, more of a ‘’blocky’’ city kind of style might work. Let me know if you want me to design something as a mock up, I’ll give it a go in my free time.
Give the forum personality by adding custom forum icons for the categories.
Personally I see adventure and travel as being heavily related, so I don't see the confusion with the site's niche, but we can work on clarifying that in some way if there is some confusion.
A gallery would be a cool feature for sure. I think right now we are focusing on content and building up the community, and plan to add features like that and others down the road once we've built ourselves up a bit more. In the meantime, we have the "share a link" section to share links to external blogs, Instagrams, etc. or those types of content can be posted directly in that forum or in Adventure Reflections.
I love the idea of custom forum icons for each section. Definitely a possibility.
