Hey,

Well, I have launched a posting competition and now I am a bit stuck. How should I advertise this? Prizes are good, total funds are 55$.
I know I can advertise on promotion forums, but I was thinking more about advertising "outside the circle".
Anyone got some good ideas?

Thanks,
Zaborg @TalkDiscuss

Try commenting on some blog articles and where it asks for your URL, give a link to the competition topic.

Also, submit the link to Digg. It might bring in some interest.

Post on other forums that allow Signatures and post a little around on them.. Or simply go to Hack Forums and post a couple of threads about it and you'll get a couple for sure.

Hack forums?
So, spam other forums and make trash blog comments?

I don't think you quite understand. Trash blog comments will get you no-where. Make comments which aren't SPAM and actually have something to do with the article in question.

As for spamming other forums, I don't think that was what he meant. Hack Forums is a forum which has 12,232,412 posts in 1,206,328 threads. The idea was simply to post around there a little because of their 242,944 members, you are sure to get a little traffic and views for your competition.

Ya dont spam just a simple HQ thread will work dont need to spam the whole forum. I didn't mean to spam it at all.

How to make a quality posts/topics about advertising something?

I really need to cover it up then or it would be treated as a another typical advertising topic.

But, I'll think about it. Thanks.

Tell friends too! Word of mouth works.

Having a signature about it in all your profiles on the web will help too, I can't easily see your forum in your signature without having to read through all the links so a signature may work for you 😀

Signatures are a biggy. On every site we use, we make sure we use a signature.

Every site expect FP huh? Cleaver idea.

As for the OP, tp be honest if you don't have any ideas or your stuck, you shouldn't be running a forum.. An admin only starts a forum because he HAS many ideas to get the forum/website going.

He doesn't go around asking for help. Not being rude here but to be an admin you have to come up with your own ideas.. Good Luck
