So we have a fairly new Gaming Community called S0reThumbs (s0rethumbs.com), and we are looking to grow. We have setup a thread here on Forum Promotion which you can find @ viewtopic.php?f=127&t=134147 but we do not think this is enough. If any of you guys could recommend ways that we could bring in more members, and keep them coming back, we would be very grateful.

Best Regards,
Percy Jackson

Hello, I just wanted to say good job with starting a good looking forum (by a quick glance)! Some of the major ways I grow my community are with SEO and post exchange websites like Postloop. Forums like webmaster-lounge.com and of course, FP, are a very helpful resource in advertising to others.

Would you know where I could find a guide for Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Thanks so much, you don't know how much you've helped!

You could do post exchanges. All you do is create a deal thread in this section. You list how many topics/threads you would be willing to post on another members' forum, and others come and post their share (if interested). You'd have to return the favor as well (otherwise, you may get into trouble). Likewise, you should chase down those who have not kept their end of the bargain. If some members turn out to like your forum, they may even stay and be active (if you're lucky!). New content which is produced should attract visitors and get them to post/stay too.

I see, thanks for the advice, I will take it into consideration.

I wish you all the luck. Running a forum can be a very rewarding but sometimes tiring job.

Advertising can be done in two ways:

• Through search engines and SEO
• Through banners, ads and promotion forums like FP.

Both are highly worth the time and for SEO, financial investment and both really help forums get off the ground. If you don't have the FP cash for all FP services try entering the competitions hosted by the admin and community teams 😉
