i have a blog with the first pages of a book and at the end a link directing readers to an amazon site where they can buy the book and i will get paid two dollars for each buy.
i want to open a fanpage on facebook and put the first pages there. but i want traffic, and i thought maybe a video can help. and i can open a discussion group on the fanpage about my book and maybe that will help with traffic.
thing is, first of all, can i open a discussion group on my fanpage, is that allowed on facebook?
second, if i post a video and ask people to bring their own entertaining videos and pictures, will the visitors just watch those, instead of reading the book, and then possibly purchasing it?
and is there any other way to bring traffic to my fanpage?
thanks in advance for your answers.

Yes you can have a any kind of group on facebook you can add discussion on it and videos ect

I have one as well for my forum

I have a facebook page for my forum: http://www.facebook.com/WoberDotNet

Its another way to interact with people who choose to 'Like' us.. However I haven't seen any noticeable growth in our forum statistics as a result of the creation of the facebook page.

Facebook does have a group option, which members can join freely or you can set it so you have to confirm the membership requests. I don't use Facebook myself, and I don't believe Facebook can help much in advertising, but given what you're planning to do I think there's no hurt trying. I think it's best if you use page, like what theezy said. More interesting that way, with like option and such.

We have a Facebook page for our forum and honestly it hasn't made much difference for us.

Facebook is a great way to advertise, you just have to know how to do it. Private messaging is key.

Well Bauss, if you do that, you would be violating Facebooks TOS because they consider it spam.

I use a Facebook page for my forum, however, I do think Twitter is better.
