Advertising On Forums

How many display adverts on your forum?

Do you have a choice on whether your forum displays adverts or not?

With the exception of Googles adverts I have included some affiliate banners which are related to the theme of the forum.

I do allow VIP users to add their affiliate image to the footer of the site. Banners are paid spots.

I have an affiliate section which is banner links to other forums, websites with a related theme to the forum.

The other banners are affiliates to stores where (hopefully) if a person clicks on the banner then buys an item you get a credit.

I currently have a free host, so I'm forced to have them unless I pay to have them removed.

I've just recently added Google Adsense ads to one of my forums. It hasn't caused any problems and members are happy to accept them One thing I would suggest, is that you ask members for their opinion on displaying adverts on your site, before you install them. My experience is that most of them don't object and it give you the opportunity to address questions and concerns from those who do have an issue with ads.
