Those spaces on the top are for the calender and arcade.

...also, it's probably a good idea to get some posts on your forum before promoting it 😉

Also like Christian said above that you should have some posts on that board before promoting it like putting up useful topics up for the community such as Board Rules, Advertising Guidelines/Rules, Rules to Off-Topic. Things like that to make your board seem alittle less bare and filled with at least a few good posts that will benefit them in the long run.
