A few of my friends got together and we were talking about the paranormal the other day. Then the question came up "Should there be an age limit for stuff like oujia boards and evp devices?" Then hell broke loose with all different answers 8D. What is your opinion?

There should be an age limit on the boards. They now sell them in the stores around town. I say you have to be 18+ but even then, most teens are young and retarded and will most likely end up getting spooked by flying butter knives and floating pencils.

Now some things you cant put an age limit on for ghost hunting.

As for EVPs, it is impossible to put an age limit on that. An electronic voice phenomenon is just the captures of a disembodied voice/sound on an audio playback. I have taken MANY EVPs in my house and gotten many replies just with my webcam recorder. They would have to put age limits on microphones, webcams, recorders, ect. I highly doubt logitech would agree with that.

Now ghost boxes are very interesting. It is a modded Radioshack Radio in which has a mute panel tweaked from the inside. This makes it so when you hold the SEARCH button it will continuously channel search until you hit it again, and OMG it still plays music! You see, spirits can communicate through white noise that high radio frequencies give off. With the ghost box on an infinite search, the voice of the entity can be amplified.

A classic form of ghost hunting still used today is the "Dowsing Rod." This can be found in almost any house. They are to pieces of metal, the same size, bent in the shape of an "L." Each rod is held in one hand and is pointed forward. Since spirits are made of Energy, and not matter, they release an electric magnetic field, or an "EMF." When an EMF hits these rods, it causes them to cross each other. This is not the most accurate way of ghost hunting though. When wiring is sticking out, plugs are unshielded, or when an electric device is leaking, it also gives off an EMF field.

Sometimes you will get a feeling of being watched. It might be a ghost, but it may also be what paranormal experts call a "Fear Cage." A Fear Cage is when an electronic object is giving out an unusually huge EMF reading. It could be a leaking fuse box, a broken microwave, or even a loose lightbulb on a lamp. A Fear Cage can result in the hearing voices, seeing things, becoming queezy, and dizziness. If you suspect you have a Fear Cage, consult an electrician to do a sweep.

A Pendulum is one of the oldest ways of paranormal investigation. The holder would ask the entity a few questions while holding a Pendulum at arms length away from them. If the entity was present it would spin. Depending on which way it spins can determine the energy of the spirit. Clockwise = Good Counter clockwise = Get the hell out.

I don't think stuff like Pendulums should be restricted from the young. As long as it's bullshit New Age pendulums with absolutely no potency at all.

I believe the Occult, for one, should be restricted from the immature.
But I find that many people of many ages are immature (see: Fundamentalist Christian). So we need a new institution on which to define who has come to the correct maturity, and who hasn't.
Mystery Schools is one thing that helps with this problem.

But given man's drive to break out of social conventions and reinvent himself, there's really no way to keep dangerous tools out of the hands of lunatics and children. lol And I doubt a government enforced age restriction can work well either. That just creates subculture.

Things like white noise receivers can really drive a person insane. Literally. lol And it doesn't matter how old you are, but you should have to be old and wise enough.

You will find that many paranormal forums either ban any discussion on ouija boards or have the appropriate section in an adult area.

I believe many online and high street shops will not sell these boards to under 18s.

I got heavy into the occult at 16, dumb choice really...
I now don't believe in anything but maybe Ghosts or Aliens..
But as for an age limit, I would say 16-18,
but then again I think if they wanna try it, let em try it.

I don't think it depends on age, but rather maturity. I'd rather have a highly mature 7 year old cutting my hair rather than a drunk/drugged/just plain dumb 20 year old.
