Akamai To Acquire Linode

CDN provider Akamai has announced that it has acquired Linode an IaaS cloud hosting provider for $900 million.

Some discussions I’ve seen is that there are concerns that since Linode is no longer independently owned, how that may impact their offerings and pricing.

Well as of two weeks ago Linode now charges sales tax, so it will be interesting if they increase their prices as well for us who use them or not once the merger settles more.

I don't think they're going to increase the base prices because it's easy to switch to one of their other many VPS competitors out there (Digital Ocean, Vultr, Ram Node, Upcloud, etc). I am hoping the acquisition brings improvements rather than only stuff like this, though.
