I do, and it's really helpful to keep track of people replying to you and threads you are interested in. Mentions/tagging is also integrated so you'll get an alert when someone tags you.
I WANTED to use MyAlerts however the CSS that comes with it jacks up my CSS for the theme, so it doesn't really work well together. I've tried fixing it and getting support but it seems to be the plugins fault and the dev won't really listen. 😛
So sadly everyone has to do it the old fashion way and check the threads they replied in; which I guess isn't a bad thing. It gets them in the boards looking at new content.
I second that -- the plugin itself has helped encourage my community to be more active, especially with the addition of being notified for mentions. I did disable the option for private messaging, however, since it's redundant.
I'm waiting for the 1.8 version of MyAlerts to update - had some issues with it prior, before I install it again. I will be using it on my horror forums though as it helps connect members with topics a lot more and overall increases engagement.
I have Alerts/notifications on my forum. I think it is great and increases activity as members know when they have a reply to a thread. This would be better because sometimes members would miss replies without an alert system.
Absolutely. It's awesome transforming your community into Facebook. On a serious note; they're super-handy for keeping up-to-date with what's happening around the community, and is why the top software solutions have dedicated notification areas.
