How accurate are Alexa ranks and what would you consider to be a ''good'' Alexa rank? For example, mine is 473,126 - but what does that mean?

The rank only takes into account people using the Alexa Toolbar. For that reason it is not accurate. If you get a few of your members to install it, your rank will go alot higher while our sites actual traffic could be decreasing.

It is just bragging rights really. The top 100,000 is a good place to be.

My forum used to be 200,000 ish but when I went to college (and as a result, stopped using the Alexa toolbar), we dropped down to the 2 millionish, which kinda sucks but whatever.

QFT. There is no real way for an external site to track exactly how popular every site on the web is. Alexa is as close as it gets, which really isn't close.

Bragging rights only. My site is is just under 200,000, and I can name dozens of sites that get more traffic and are in the millions.

What you need to know: Don't worry about it. If people really want to know how popular your site is, show them Google Analytics or Awstats.

Quantcast stats are more accurate than Alexa you can try them too
