As i said somewhere else recently, while you can't really convey emotions and sarcasm that well on the internet, the wording of your post comes into play and that is what people use to judge if a user is being nice or rude etc.
While I agree that you are not a bad person, i think the wording of your posts sometimes don't come across that well and therefore users think that you are being rude. When using the internet to talk to people you sometimes have to ensure that you make it clear if you are being rude or not. Saying "That is stupid" might come across as rude in terms of the internet but if you were speaking to the person face to face, you may well have laughed while saying it and it would have been clear that you said it it a jokey non rude way. Smilies can play a part in conveying your emotion and using  would show that it was a joke although even smilies sometimes get ignored by users and can still be confusing as to whether a user is actually joking or serious. By wording i mean don't say "I think that idea is pathetic and it will never work". Instead say "I don't think that idea is that good and it may not work." You are still getting your point across and voicing your opinion but it is in a nicer way and won't upset other people and you won't be pounced on by other members saying that you are being rude.
We all have moments were we get annoyed and just actually are rude to someone. If you do it often then it will go against you and will not make you popular. Once in a while is acceptable.
