Everytime I visit amazon.com, it downloads a file called download to my PC. I don't understand what's up with that.

Any suggestions or ideas as to what may be going on?

I use Windows 7 Home Premium and I use the Chrome browser.

Thanks,
~ Andy

That sounds very odd and suspicious, have you got up to date virus protection on your PC?

I'm not 100% sure on this, so don't quote me, but I think if you are an amazon member, you have inadvertently authorised it to look at your browsing history, it does this to provide you with "things you might like", I think it also tells advertisers what ad's to hit you with when you visit sites.

I do have up to date antivirus. I used 3 different antivirus programs (not at the same time), and none of them caught anything.

I've also found out it doesn't happen when using 'incognito' mode in google chrome.

Have you tried disabling all your extensions 1 by 1 and access amazon.com and see if that solves the issue?

Incognito mode disables extensions so if it works in incognito mode but not in normal mode then it may be down to an extension.

It did indeed turn out to be one of the extensions that I had installed. I have removed it and now this problem is no longer happening.

Thanks everyone for your help. I really appreciate it..
