Amazon Stops Selling 'Paedophile's Guide'

Read about this earlier today, like the idea of freedom of speech. Just not taken to the extreme as Amazon is trying to.

People need to get over it.Sure, it's a bit peculiar that Amazon would have had this book up on their website in the first place, but that doesn't mean that they support pedophiles. I am glad they took it down, but it doesn't bother me that it was ever up - what bothers me is that it was written in the first place.

Those who are still boycotting Amazon are being too sensitive.

What if I wanted to buy that book and Amazon was my only opinion of getting it (it's not like they would have it at my schools library haha)?
I strongly disagree with Amazon for doing that. Even if I never used them in the first place..well..I won't ever not use them again!?
It's taking away the freedom of speech, and I cannot stand that.

Oh my, they set up a Facebook page about the removal of this. Not sure what to do now. 😛

Oh yeah because you have a right to dictate what a private business decides to do. Amazon could start producing swastikas for all I care, or they could ban any product not suitable for children. It's their decision.

That

Also I never noticed how good Amazon is at trolling 😱

I never implied that I did 😛
It is their decision, but as customers (or potential ones) there is a right to disagree with it.

Swastikas are huge in the Hindu religion, if I'm not mistaken. /end offtopic.

1) Freedom of press.
2) No one made these people buy the book.
3) This is why only customers should be able to rate items.

This.

Obviously, I despise this book, but some people are saying that the author should be arrested. It's very dangerous to start arresting anyone who writes something offensive.

You guys all bring up good points, but if you look at Amazon's TOS, they say specifically they reserve the right to take down an item that is being sold on their site that they find to be not moral or despicable, I forget the language exactly, but it's not really a freedom of speech issue. They take down stuff all the time, and I'm not sure why this book wasn't taken down in the first place because of their not moral clause.

Freedom of speech isn't an issue at all here, like Irviding said. Amazon is a business and has the right to sell what they want.

Amazon do have the right to do whatever they please. I was speaking in response to the comments; there shouldn't be anybody arrested for exercising his/her right to free speech.

They can sell whatever they want. If someone really wants a book about pedophiles then they can find it somewhere else.

Very much that. Amazon can get rid of anything that they want, since they are a private company.
I say we lobby for the removal of Nickelback's discography.

Exactly.. it's not that they can do anything they want, it's the fact that their TOS states that they will take down any type of content that is considered unacceptable, yet instead we choose to jump on the high horse about freedom of speech.

Pedophile list is already public knowledge. And I'm sure the book would be an interesting read for psychology students.

I think they should sell it - Then publish the names and addresses of all the buyers.
You're saying you wouldn't buy it for the lulz? At the very least I'd torrent it, could be pretty entertaining.
