So, not only have I been doing numerous exchanges now - I even started to hold a contest yet NO ONE has done anything for the contest yet. Why is this? My forum is growing slowly and has some unique features and will be getting plenty more soon once the new update is done.
Though, what is wrong? Look, here is the post to the contest viewtopic.php?f=43&t=47617 - I thought it was a good idea and am even giving away a real prize.. any thoughts of how to get and retain my members and make it active?
I'd suggest getting a review done of your site, that may help you get your site into tip top shape before holding another contest or promoting. That's all I can suggest.
Well I already know the website is in its beta phase. Just wondering what's with the lack of member sign-ups and such? If I made it Facebook Connectable will more people be willing to join these days? That is what I am working on currently to do.
For this type of website, Facebook Connect would probably help you out a lot. Of course you'd still need to advertise around on facebook and try to spread the word, but a flash game website would be pretty popular among facebook users.
Also, I think that since the main point of your website is to play arcade-type games, not to chat on a forum, most people will be playing the games instead of talking. A few of course will see the "Forum" link and want to participate, but I think the majority are looking to play a game and then leave.
Agreed, I understand that point since it is an arcade site that the majority will just be playing the games. This is true because I am getting a lot of traffic, 1300+ unique & 25k+ pages last month alone, and the unique keep going up every month - around to about 700+ right now this month.
Though, I just feel that having a strong community base will keep the users wanting to always come back, I know there are other aspects but I feel this would be one of them.
I am though releasing a big update sometime this week, I have an artist who I will be working with creating a special feature that will be unique to any arcade site I have ever seen. So, lets hope that will make it better.
