This guy was popular in the 70s, and despite my young age then, he was so popular I had heard of him.

Anyway his bio on HBO was quite sad as he was sort of a freak show and he got tired of the attention. Also, due to the size he literally could not live normally.

Anyway, it was amusing to see someone bigger than Arnold!

My brothers are fans of wrestling that's why that name Andre the Giant is familiar to me. I think he is a 7-footer wrestler who was undefeated during his heyday. If only my brother is here, I could ask him the details of that wrestler. But I don't remember seeing him because I do not watch wrestling. I was busy with my studies and later on with my job so I didn't have much time for watching tv.

Andre was indeed an attraction. 7'4", 520 lbs. at his best. That was when he was fighting against Hulk Hogan. He passed the torch to him that night. Andre was also the King of the Battle Royal. Andre was the reason why it takes multiple guys to get rid of the big men in that type of match. If they didn't, big men win every time due to the fact that they were the "odd-on favorite" due to their sheer size.

Pardon my ignorance for asking this question. I am just intrigued because in boxing, there is a weight limit. From what I understand, the weight in fighters is a big factor which means the heavier fighter has the edge. In mixed martial arts, there's also a weight limit for the divisions. But in wrestling, it seems that weight does not matter hence that giant wrestler would have the advantage all the time.

I've heard of Hulk Hogan and I think he got into the movies?

You would be right unless that smaller wrestler (going one-on-one with a big man) w400ould be able to bring that big man down to "his size" by going after the legs.

Here's an example using one of today's Giants.

You have a guy 6'2" 240lbs. battling a guy 7'2" 400lbs. The 240-pounder is gonna go after the lethe gs and put him down on his back to gain the edge. If he doesn't and tries to match power with the Giant, the 240 pound guy will have an uphill climb against the big man, if he has a shot at all.

Andre the Giant is my favorite wrestler of all time.

I did watch the documentary that they played on HBO last month about Andre the Giant. There were lots of things from his life that were celebrated but there were also a lot of things that were sad. I couldn't imagine not being able to live a normal life due to the fact that I was so large.

This disease is known as acromegaly. This is a disorder that results from excess growth hormone (GH) after the growth plates have closed. This is the disease that had plagued Andre The Giant throughout most of his life and career.
