After reading one thread I wont be returning, the thread I read was highly misinformed (one about the sacrfice of the animals in the polytheist section) so certainly isnt very appealing to me. Plus I'm a polytheist Pagan 😛

I thought of something else as well (I'm not nitpicking, just have a thing for religion lol), which is that not all religious people believe in a divine being, some are athiests - I know many Pagans that are and I know that some Buddhist religions are athiest religions.
This is the problem with defining what "religion" actually means. Most definitions stumble on some huge problems, as does the widely accepted definition of what relgion is (belief of a divine being/s and what have you).

You're quite right of course and no doubt this is a topic that will come up many times in the forum.
However, in a country such as this religion usually refers to Christianity or Islam etc. But your point is well made.
Why not join up and make it over there 😉

I don't like the idea, myself. You can believe what you want but do you need to make a forum for flaming people for their beliefs? All a forum like this will end up breeding is arguments and rude comments. I would much prefer joining a positively minded forum than a negatively minded forum. And, for the record, I wouldn't join a forum flaming atheists either. =|
How about believing that women are second class citizens, or that children should be taught that they will burn in hell or that gay men are morally evil or that abstinence from using condoms is conditional on receiving aid, or etc. etc.

You are taking the beliefs of people who not all Christians agree with and turning them into a stereotype. Not all Christians are "fire and brimstone baptists", not all Christians are slaves to the papacy, and not all Christians go on religious wars. Many of the world's most famous dictators were atheists, but I'm not about to compare you with any of them.
In any case, I'm not joining a forum which is meant to discuss another group negatively. Even if that group is people who I disagree with, it's a pretty negative reason to make a forum nonetheless.
Not all atheists are angry. Many can live with followers of God, Allah, and even Zeus without running a muck. Why not make it a forum for atheists, or even, if you want, a forum for religious discussion? It doesn't have to be specifically anti-Christian, that is just rude.

Quite agree, big difference. For too long religion has basked in its privileged, untouchable status. We are not out to attack it but simply to demand that it accounts for itself as does everything else in life.

It certainly doesn't reflect the general philosophy of the forum. Well, not from my perspective anyway.
