Put to Sleep is the common phrase for Uthenization (Spelling?). So, where they never wake up..Bob said:

Joel, how is it cruelty? If someone has a justified reason, such as the animal is suffering and will end up dying anyways, is it still wrong? Your just putting them out of their misery when this happens. Now, if someone has no reason, than it does become cruelty.Joel said:

It is the right thing to do no matter how much it hurts. Would you rather let you pet suffer? Not unless you truly didn't care about it. When an animal gets put down it's peaceful. I watched one of my dogs be put to sleep and it was an incredibly hard thing to do but in the end I was glad I did it as seeing him go through pain day to day was making me really upset and I knew he didn't deserve it and would be in a better place afterwards.

It's the humane thing to do dude. We had a 12 year ld collie who had hip problems and her lungs were getting liquids in them(something like that) anyways, we put her down to stop her suffering. You watch your dog wail around in pain for weeks until it dies in front of you and then say that it's humane. Seriously dude.

No, they just died on their own. When I was a baby, my dog died and when I was in Pre-school or Kindergarten my fish died. I wasn't emotional then because I didn't really understand or I didn't care, but I don't remember. 😛
The only thing about it that gets me is if the reasoning to the creatures condition was caused by humans, such as a race horse being injured. Most of them are killed, so they won't "suffer". Now, what if the horse wasn't being ran into the ground? Other than that, it is fine by me if it is the better thing to do.
