Is it okay to use animals to test medicines or cosmetic products?

If so, can you think of any regulations to improve the way animals are treated?

Medicine is at least somewhat understandable, but I really don't like animal testing in general, it really feels like we should be beyond that at this point.

I don't like animal testing but using it directly on humans doesn't make much sense to me

I don't like that they have to test and experiment on animals but I have accepted that it's a necessary evil. We can't go experimenting on innocent people, the repercussions would be huge.

I seriously don't like it, especially since in this age of computers, there should be viable alternatives. Anyway, cosmetics, by the way, are totally not necessary for humans, and so the testing is more deplorable.

I don't like animal testing at all, I find it to be very inhumane. IMO we should test things out on inmates that are on death row. It seems more ethical to me, but I do value animals over humans...
