How do you feel about animated logos for forums?

I don't care for them. Ads are bad enough but I hate seeing out of the corner of my eye flashing lights & animation. To see it on one page is one thing, but not on all pages. Too distracting.

I'm a member of many sites that have animated logos 🙂 I do not mind them as long as they are not overkilled and not too bad. Plus end of the day it does take more resources on the server and your end.

I always prefer static images, specially for logo brands.

Some of the examples here are amazing and really fit the brand!

A professionally created logo that animates once on a landing page could work but anything more is likely to be a distraction.

It depends on the forum and the "theme" you're using with it. The rest of the theme would have to look good with the banner.

Agree. It can be very charming as long as it does not take the eye from the content.

My idea for Crafter Craze is to create an animated ball of yarn incorporated into my logo or even a new logo. I would want it to be basic and not too detailed and I think it's a mascot as well as being a moving logo. I'd love to take it further and create little animated short videos with the ball of yarn doing the Reviews or whatever.

Not really. I wanted the ball of yarn to actually move around the logo. The ball of yarn would have a cute little face on it so it's more of a mascot. It wouldn't stay in one position but would change how its loose yarn moves as it flows around the name so that it's really fluid looking.

I appreciate the attempt but what I had in mind was a little more fluid and animated with the ball of yarn being somewhat life like and using my existing logo that I have. I know it's too much work but it's something I'd like to play around with myself if I can get the right software.
