Animations/Flashing/Moving/etc

What do you guys think of websites that have animation and flash and moving text and all that? Do you think that makes the website(s) better or worse?

Worse in many cases unless the website is a flash web browser gaming website or similar to Youtube.

I like them, depending on the type of site. like for affiliate buttons in a moving line, i like that, but just random moving/flashing text is annoying.
