Another School Shooting!

That is sad =/
I wish shootings would stop.

It's terrible and just because of their religion. :|

Now the president is talking about changing gun laws again. They might as well throw away the constitution because all of our gun law rights are going to be taken away.

Today's world is seriously messed up. School shootings, bombings, etc. It all needs to stop. It's very sad, really. How many school shootings does this make in the last five years? You would think--by now--the security in schools would be able to prevent this after having so many incidents.

And another gun free zone shooting... Things like this honestly tick me off. Not only was this campus a gun free zone; the state that this took place in (Oregon) has some of the tightest gun law in the country. I really do feel bad that we've decided people cannot (and aren't capable) of defending themselves against bigoted mentally ill fools like this one. So what does our president do in his speech after this? Ask for gun control. http://thefederalist.com/2015/10/01/whi ... n-control/

Thoughts and prayers are definitely with the victims. This sort of thing shouldn't happen.

I'm thinking, what the heck is wrong with people? I'm so sick of school shootings. If this continues to go on. Guns probably will be outlawed in the US. It's people like this why the government wants to revoke the 2nd amendment.

I'm kinda glad things like this don't happen over here. It really must be scary to live in America right now with all these things going on. I hope something changes so that stuff like this stops happening.

It really isn't that frequently as some people in the media will lead you to believe (but it is a problem, don't get me wrong), and it's generally in the places with tighter gun control (Oregon has mandatory background checks, and this school campus was a gun free zone). Where I live in America, this sort of thing is pretty rare; and because people and police are armed, shooters are generally stopped pretty fast.

These things happen every now and then. It's sad, but I don't think there's anything anyone can do about it. :| Some politicians always use it to score political points, but I doubt gun control will actually happen. Most people understand I think that there are crazy people out there that will always do this stuff no matter what you do.

It will never happen because they know it will mean an all out civil war. Although, it doesn't really keep the libs from trying.

Gun Free Zones = A victim-rich environment.

I'm not convinced that allowing guns at schools would have helped in this case. It's true that the shooter will ignore any gun law, but even if guns were allowed at schools, I doubt many if any students would take them with them.

I don't think everyone should carry a weapon with them all the time, just in case they get into a shooting. Why not carry a gas mask with you in case of anthrax, or iodine pills in case of a nuclear disaster? When you tell people to do this, you're just making them needlessly afraid. The probability of anyone who has or will post on this thread being involved in a situation like this throughout their entire life is extremely low. Sure, if you live in a dangerous neighborhood, by all means take measures to protect yourself. But people should not take precautions that have a low chance of helping.

For everyone who dies in a school shooting, hundreds, even thousands perhaps, die in car accidents. Let's all take driver's ed courses instead of training in using firearms. I guarantee that it would save more lives by many orders of magnitude. 😛

I carry on a regular basis. It's fairly commonplace here in NH. Especially further north. I don't think "everyone should carry a weapon with them at all times either"....especially when you're talking about college age kids...but it's their right. If there had been a student who were armed...or even if the security guard on duty was armed...lives could have been saved.

edit: The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is with a good guy with a gun.
