OK, are there any free anti malware that are good programs out there? Which ones?

Spybot-Search and Destroy by safer network
Spywarebaster
AVG free
Avast
Spyware doctor free edition

Comodo Fire wall

are all pretty good in my experience.

Thanks for linking to my site Leo! -happy-

Also, I'd say malwarebytes anti malware is also what you'd want to use, will get everything done for you, although it does take some time for it to complete the scan.

Oh yeah it does, longest scanner I had. It does a great job though, removed whatever I had (and trust me, with what I do in my freetime I had quite a bit on there).

If you like it, then buy it and support the developers ~cool~

None of those are anti-malware iirc.

Check out this little site, home to a few great programs,
http://www.malwarebytes.org/ - "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" being my program of choice for Windows systems.

Also check out Gimgak's site for learning to protect yourself,
http://bustedmalware.com/

For long term protection, may I suggest switching to Linux Mint 7?

I also use Malwarebytes. It is pretty fast.

Can you explain what is the difference between anti-mailware, anti-spyware, and anti-virus. They all seem to do the same thing?

Nope, different things, well I'll say pretty much the difference between anti virus and anti spyware:
Viruses are things like trojans, worms, etc and this is what anti-virus will find
anti-spyware will find things like zango crap, keyloggers, antivirus 2009 rogue software etc

Going to microsoft for protection is like entrusting your money to Bernie Madoff -lol-
Seriously Malware Bytes Anti-Malware is safe and clean of any any malware. Some anti-virus protection softwares might flag it as such, but that is because it does a change in the registry during start up each time randomly to make it harder for malware to disable it like some do to your anti-virus software

Microsoft's stuff has saved me a few times when I ran XP, but I wouldn't use it as my only protection. I also wouldn't use Mbam as my only protection either though, a mix will always be best.

Thats a really good site. I just use comodo firewall, antivir, a-squared, superantispyware, ccleaner, easycleaner, auslogics registry defrag, and perfect disk 2008. All that stuff together plus always keeping everything up to date makes my computer work perfectly and i never ever had a problem in years.
