Anti-Virus

I have McAfee always running and use about 5 other programs to scan for viruses when told ..... Just mentioned AVG as one of the ones I use to scan.

You shouldn't really run more then 1 anti-virus software on your computer at once as it can cause issues.
You still have 256MB RAM? Could be why

My thoughts are, it's actually best to run more than one. Even though I love my Avast! I know for a fact it can't be expect to catch every virus, every time. A combo of anti-virus is probably what will offer you the best protection.

Also, AVG = CPU Hog.

I've heard very good things about Nod32, I know a few "questionable" people that swear by it for when they get something embedded... but I can't be troubled to get / buy it.

Right now i'm doing very few things to get a virus from, mostly just browsing FP and my sites. Should be safe *knocks on wood*

Not anymore... That laptop finally gave up.

I know have 3gb of RAM on my new laptop 😎

Gave up or smashed for insurance money? 😛

Bet you arn't seeing any lag from anti-virus anymore, unless you don't have a great processor.

I hate norton with a passion..

just use free AVG does the job , no need to get excited over some antivirus program

AVG is completely anal and makes alot of false alarms.

AVG only uses up to 10 MB of RAM on any of the machines I install it on and I never get any false alarms.

It gave up... It was about 5 years old and was never that good. I now have a Core 2 Duo 2.00 GHz processor so i see no lag from Mcafee 😎

My laptop will have 4GB RAM and an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2.40GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB cache), so I really won't have any worries about lag heh.

@Traygon
My complaint about AVG is that it eats up your CPU Usage... it's always one of the highest numbers on there even when it's supposed to be running in the background.

Never done it with any machine we run it on, depends on what you have on your system.

^same for me, but I also use WinPatrol Pro which stop programs from installing unwanted start up programs onto my computer.

Haha cool! Yup they both go great together.

Once my new laptop is here, I will be purchasing Kaspersky Internet Security 2011.
