This is really personal and I hope you can hang with me here...

So, I have chronic anxiety problems. I am a 17 year old teenage boy. Today my dad texted me while I was at school saying he cancelled my appointments because the owner was being dismissive and rude so now I have no counseling to talk about my anxiety. I am freaking out...

I don't know what to do and there are no more counseling services around where I live.

I suggest speaking to your GP, he/she might be able to point you in the direction of another counselor or perhaps recommend some medication. If there really aren't any other services in your area, maybe hunt around for a phone counselling service (they have a few here where I live). That way you don't have to travel or anything.

Good luck and stay healthy! Anxiety is really hard to live with (I should know), but life is still worth living, so do your best to get help and make the most of it!

Hey c:

I hope you are feeling OK today.

I'm very high energy too and for me that leads to stress and anxiety and worry, so in a small way I know what you are going through.

Do you have any local friends or friends on Facebook or online you can call on the phone or Skype with and speak with? Not just texting and messaging but actually talk with. If not, journal privately on a blog to get the ideas out of your head, so you can actually see them in front of you. Keeping things in the head, they'll just go around in an endless circle and lead to more anxiety and stress. (that's part of the magic of talking to a counselor).

That usually helps me if I'm in a stressful situation to find my balance again. After talking to a friend, I usually feel very happy again and go on with my day.

Another thing, get physical, get up away from the computer and do something which engages your body, not just your mind. Get out and run or jog, do yard work, house work. Anything physical or strenuous will cause your brain to devote resources to the labor and take your mind off whatever it's worried or anxious over.

There are some really good online forums where you can talk about anxiety and what you're going through and others who are going through the same thing will offer emotional support and comfort.

Just google 'anxiety forum' and you'll find so many more.

Many of these forums have professional counselors as moderators and there will always be someone there to talk with you 24/7 and help you through whatever you are going through.

All these ideas help me. And, I hope they provide you with some help too.

I have had anxiety since I was 14. My anxiety has to do with heart attacks. My heart will speed up and I get really nervous and think i'm going to die. (Heart attack). There are lots of things that trigger this feeling. I have learned to deal with it myself. If I get really anxious and my heart starts beating really fast. I trick my body into thinking there is a reason for my heart to be beating fast. I jog. That speeds up your heart, thus tricking your mind into slowing your heart down gradually, just like it normally would after you stop jogging. Works every time.
